年にユネスコ世界遺産に登録されたナポリ歴史地区には、猥雑で庶民的な雰囲気がストリートアートと親和性が高く、もともと無名人たちによって数多く描かれていたものの、とくに2015 年以降からその質と量が急上昇し注目度も上がってきている。それはナポリ版バンクシーともよばれているナポリ出身の壁画家ヨリットが大聖堂近くで描いたナポリの聖人に似た《ジェンナーロ》という巨大な住宅壁画の出現と、やはり大聖堂の近くにあるバンクシーの2 作目（1 作目は消去され現存せず）がガラス板で保護された2015 年という年が一つの節目であったようだ。それ以来、以前は観光客が近寄り難かった歴史的建造物がひしめく狭い路地の住宅街や、治安の悪い郊外の近代的な低所得層の集合住宅の壁を使って、有名な作家たちを起用することによって、奇抜で面白い作品が続々と誕生するようになってきた。それらは現在進行形で増加中で、フォトジェニックなストリートアートはSNS
