年代にはスイスの山小屋風を意識したホテルが日本各地に登場した。しかしスイスやチロルにあるシャレー建築の精巧な模倣ではなく、日本の山間の伝統的な木骨造の意匠との類似・親和性から独自に生み出された疑似・折衷的なものだった。戦後は高度経済成長期に伴うレジャーブームと、札幌・長野での冬季オリンピック開催によって起こったスキーブームにより、山岳地を中心にシャレー風の宿泊施設が増加してゆくが、やがてハーフティンバー建築も高原リゾートらしさを演出するものと誤って解釈されるようになり、スイスやチロル風の山間の民家とイギリスの田園地帯の木骨造（ハーフティンバー）のコテージ風建築やチューダー様式との混同と共存が顕著になってくる。しかしバブル期の1980-90
