| 内容記述 | The title “European City of Culture”, its launch in June 1985 on the initiative of Melina Mercouri (1920～94), changed the name of the title to the “European Capital of Culture” in 2005 and at the same time changes were introduced to the procedure for selecting cities. Selected cities prepare high- quality programs of events for a year, commitment by public authorities (in terms of funding) and involvement of the cities' social and economic stakeholders. The general objectives of the “European Capitals of Culture” and the “European Heritage Label” (newly established in March 2010) are to help to bring the people of wider Europe and beyond closer together, to strengthen intercultural dialogue and to help develop and increase tourism considerably (in EU countries; the Lisbon Treaty). lf managed well, the titles have a remarkable socio- economic impact on cities' cultural policy, redevelopment planning and their Historical/Cultural Heritage and/or can bring long-term cultural, social and economic benefits for the cities. |
