| 内容記述 | The Berg-Mark Railway, with only 24.0Km in 1848, continued to extend its network of lines until in 1881 it consisted of over 1.400Km. The surprising growth of this company was accompanied by problems of raising capital for railway construction or for the purchase of other companies. Such capital was raised mainly with bonds, some of which received a State guarantee of interest, and to some degree also by shares, the proportion of which tended decrease year by year. The Berg-Mark railway was a privately-owned but State-administered railway, as the company had to hand its administration over to the State due to financial difficulties. The particular form of this railway system, a compromise between a nationalized railway and a private one, caused the above-mentioned financing situation. The private shareholders had no control over the running of the company and therefore preferred to invest in bonds with assured interest. | |||||||
